Listen: U.S. consumers increased their discretionary spending for the first time since February
In an interview with Wharton Business Daily podcast, Wayne Best, Visa’s Chief U.S. Economist, says though discretionary spending increased, there was a decline in several categories, including non-discretionary goods and restaurant spending. Higher prices combined with last year’s stimulus-fueled spending are also having a negative impact on spending momentum.
