Intesa Sanpaolo and Visa renew strategic partnership in Italy

Intesa Sanpaolo, Italy’s largest banking group, and Visa have renewed their multi-year strategic partnership agreement, to accelerate the digital transition in the region and encourage the growth of digital payments.

The expanded partnership will see the continuation of existing projects, as well as the introduction of new, innovative products and services for Intesa customers. The Bank’s enterprise customers will be able to access additional solutions from Visa’s value-added services portfolio, such as Visa Business Solutions and an evolved reporting service for commercial Visa credit card customers. Consumers will also be able to enjoy brand new payments innovations, including wearable technology products and solutions.

The two companies will also work together to improve financial inclusion, creating joint initiatives to increase awareness and uptake of digital payments for everyone.

Claudia Vassena, Head of Sales & Marketing Digital Retail at Intesa Sanpaolo, commented: "In a constantly evolving market like payments, our aim is to identify and, where possible, anticipate customers’ needs, providing them with cutting-edge, increasingly digital, inclusive and omnichannel solutions, while at the same time fostering acceptance for merchants. The renewal of our partnership with Visa allows us to give these commitments even greater value and concreteness."

"With this partnership we're aiming to maximise the value that digital payments can bring to consumers and businesses, thanks to Visa's technological innovation, investment in security and global presence," said Stefano M. Stoppani, Country Manager Visa Italy. "What we are announcing today is not just a commercial agreement, it is much more than that. It means looking together at the future of the country, families, businesses and young people, sharing the commitment to promote – also through our technology – a greater financial inclusion and growth throughout the country."
