Welcome to Visa Navigate CEMEA – a new destination for insights, perspectives and trends that are defining the world of commerce and payments across Central Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA).

The start of this new decade has already seen a reshaping of economies and societies to an extent that few of us could have foreseen or imagined. The impact of COVID-19 has fundamentally altered everything from the way we work, to how we interact with friends, family and neighbours. It has created seismic shifts in what we buy, where we buy it, and how we pay, ultimately transforming commerce.

While CEMEA had already been experiencing a shift towards digitization, we have recently seen an unprecedented acceleration, with trends that would typically take place over a number of years, happening in just a few short months. While these rapidly evolving consumer and merchant preferences present challenges in keeping pace, they also offer enormous opportunity. Over the coming years, the benefits and possibilities of shifts towards digital payments and entirely new forms of money movement – from eCommerce to aid disbursements - can be felt more keenly than ever.

During a time of such significant transformation, at Visa we believe it is more important than ever that together we explore emerging trends, best practice and expertise from across the CEMEA region that can fuel shared growth and chart a course towards and through the next normal.

Through Visa Navigate we will be focusing on a series of themes that we believe will together define the future of the payments and commerce worlds. We will explore the Future of Commerce to understand emerging innovations that define how consumers and merchants will make and accept payments in the near future. We will examine Digital Security, and the cornerstone of trust in enabling people to make payments in confidence that their personal information is secure. We will understand the role that digital payments can play in driving Inclusive Growth, supporting the rise of entrepreneurs, small business and addressing the socio-economic divides and stubborn development hurdles faced in societies across CEMEA. Lastly, we will reflect on the Global Reset and how societies and economies can emerge, evolve and adapt based on our learnings and experiences over recent months.
