Bringing Moroccan customers contactless with CMI
Morocco was one of many countries which adapted a radical pace of change in their payments ecosystem during the COVID-19 pandemic, rapidly transitioning from a reliance on cash and cheques to using digitised forms of payments.
Neil Caldwell, Visa CEMEA’s Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring, is joined by Mikael Naciri, CEO of the Centre Monétique Interbancaire (CMI), Morocco’s bank-owned payment acquirer, to discuss the benefits of the B2B partnership between Visa and the CMI and how both are working towards expanding payments acceptance across the country. The discussion also touches on the importance of loyalty and activation in Morocco to boost ecommerce and digital payments, as well as the CMI’s renewed focus on the B2B ecosystem for the coming months, as the organisation develops FMCG payments, refines loyalty and benefits, and pushes for a dedicated and lowest B2B interchange fee.
